I really feel that if this Country were to go back to the times when "The People" had more control over things ,than they do now there would be less corruption. I mean this, If it could be possible for "The People" (the citizens) 'not the politicans' to have more of a say in their world than they do now, I am not a politician! I am a Citizen of these wonderful United States! so having siad that I am really tired of "wondering" if my opinion counts about anything. (i.e.- Several year ago I went to meeting for a meeting that was sponsered by the local transit bus lines that we have in my city (city bus line) and I spoke my mind and there were about 20 + chairs in the room for people to come in and speak, each person had 1-2min to speak their thoughts on the city bus and the changes that might take place. After I had been there about 30min the people that were there to take comments decided to start the meeting, and by the time about 5 of us had spoken there was still "Plenty" of time left on the clock before the scheduled meeting was to end,now by this time all people who had come to express their opinion's had spoken and when the ques was asked if we could ask more ques since no one else had come in but the few of us seated the room, we were told that we could not use up the extra time for more comments just because we were the few who had shown up. Now my Point is this, If those people who had put this meeting together were really intrested in the bus riders opinions,what would it have hurt for them to hear more comments,(all of us who asked ques were very respectful of those we were posing the ques to). I really feel like that is how our Government works to! Do they really want ot hear us or are they paying us lip service just so they look good to their suprevisors and the state so they can get more $$$. |
