To implement Democracy now is going to require more than a lawyer's ability to discern the double talk presented to the american people. The hidden meanings and agendas will be in every bill or proposal submitted for a vote by the legislature. There is also the problem of the general public, caught up in their hectic existence to spend the time necessary to understand and read the possible lengthy documentation. Assuming they do, your still facing the problem of voter machine fraud. The problem has to be addressed more closer to home. People should have to prove their qualifications for office somehow. There needs to be equal access, not based on financial ability alone to determine primary selection of candidates. Voting has to be a privilege, like driving a car. If you don't fully understand what you are voting for, you should not be allowed to vote. I do not believe just because we have this unethical system of lobbyists and corporate control of government that it is necessary to keep it. A new charter of governmental reconstruction needs to be proposed albeit in it's infant stage to start the american people thinking about the kind of world it wants. Democracy Now would be a good place to air it to the American people.

You are so right. Here where I live there was a vote on whether to keep our Padre Island beaches open or close sections of the beach as requested by a developer. The public officials worded the ballot so that it was very confusing to the ordinary voter.  There was no "Close the Beaches" or "Keep the beaches open" option. The ballot was worded in a very vague language so that no one really knew for what they were really voting.

Most Americans are of only average intelligence. I once had a boss that was absolutely brilliant in some areas and an absolute moron in other areas. If you have attended high school or college you know what I mean.

The Founding fathers put in the Electoral College because of their concern about who was going to be the ones selecting the President.

I think this idea is possible, but like you say, we need qualified people handling this. Look at what we have in the White House now!

Incredible that these people are in charge of our country.  As an architect, I had to take an exam that lasted a whole week just to prove I had the qualifications to practice architecture.

We should demand no less of our representatives and candidates for President. I seriously doubt That George W. Bush could pass such an exam and many members of the Congress to boot!

Based on what has happened in the last 8 years maybe we should also consider abolishing the office of the President and establish a third body of Congress!

Quinn's idea is very possible with the right people in charge.
