The Idea of a democracy is at first glance very appealing.

The peoples will is the law. There is no man to stand as a dictator

But what happens when the majority becomes the oppressor?

The Framers of our Constitution Wanted to protect not just the majority, but also the minority.

They devised a means by which the small states would have as strong a voice as the big states. (The Senate)

They designed a constitution to limit the role and powers of the federal government. (Although the constitution has been ignored and rejected by the politicians)

The Federal government was meant to have very little presence in our lives and allow for differing groups the large and small protected equally under the constitution.

And yet well protecting the minority the voice of the majority was heard through the house of representitives.

So as for me and my house we reject mob rule and choose a Constitutional Republic.

Let us devise a means rather to Restore The Republic, Restore The Constitution.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

How is democracy now not a good idea...
As I am reading these posts all I hear from both those who support it and those who do not YOU BOTH are basically stating the same thing...

To bring our nation back to where our founding fathers started from.  It states so in our declaration of independance that when and if the government gets too powerful it is our duty to overthrow it... have you watched the first 15 minutes of National Treasure?

I don't appreciate the term "mob" to be used for the people who are hoping for change.  More people than we know do understand what is going on and some refuse to shed there blinders...  we should be working together and concentrating on what to do... NOT attacking each other.  Am I wrong?

Sincerely,
Singlemom
