I do not think a full out democracy will work, because it is impossible to get the majority of people to vote on every single issue. I do however agree that something (or rather a lot of things) need to be done in efforts to save this dying nation.

i think you might be surprised to see how people would be if they felt like they were part of a decision making process. especially the way this world is today. i think you would be REAL SURPRISED. i could be wrong but people are sick and tired of things going the way they are in this country.  its going to end up in a bad way if there isnt something done .......now

I disagree.  Ask 20 people at random (strangers -- your circle of friends are probably educated on the issues because you are) which candidate they favor and why.  Ask them a question about one major issue.  I think you'll find out that 70% have done no research on the issues and only know what they saw on TV.  I am continually surprised at how ignorant most people are .. they gobble up the propaganda.  This is exactly why candidates use mass media to push their propaganda.  They know most people will believe it and not bother researching the facts.

So do you really want the group who can afford the most advertising running the country?  We'd end up with rule by the wealthy.
